Abstract:
An investigation on the design, thermal performance (time constant and efficiency) and flow resistance characteristic of a novel type of CPC (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) solar air collector by using flat micro-heat pipe arrays (FMHPA) was carried out theoretically and experimentally. Instantaneous efficiency and flow resistance curves are obtained in the study. The experimental results showed that the heat collecting efficiency of the collector is approximately 53% in spring. And the flow resistance is less than 22 Pa when the air flow rate is less than 320 m3/h. Moreover, the time constant of the collector is about 16 min with the air flow rate of 260 m3/h. © 2015, Science Press. All right reserved.
