Abstract :

This paper studies the integration of production planning and scheduling in the forging process of small batch orders. Firstly, the demand for orders and the processing constraints of forging equipment are comprehensively considered. Then by integrating periodic requirements for orders, the cycle of production is assigned based on production status and inventory, and each cycle of production is independently scheduled, a two-level decisionmaking model for production planning and adjustment of hybrid flow shop for forging is established. Secondly, in order to realize the closed-loop integration of high-level planning and low-level scheduling, a particle swarmgenetic hybrid algorithm is proposed to obtain the feasible integrated solution of production planning and scheduling. Thirdly, through a large number of numerical experiments, the genetic algorithm parameters of scheduling layer are optimized and its optimization ability is verified, and the optimal results also show that the parameters improve the overall algorithm performance. Lastly, a case of hybrid flow workshop for forging is presented to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed model and algorithm.

Mechanisms of cation-induced superlubricity transition of poly (vinylphosphonic acid) coatings SCIE

Abstract :

Water-based superlubricity systems have unique advantages, such as low friction and environmental friendliness. While control of water-based superlubricity is highly attractive, it is also challenging. The superlubricity transition behavior of poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) lubricated using a NaCl solution when mixed with multiple lubricants was investigated in this study. The mechanisms of superlubricity transition were investigated by exploring the internal structural changes of a PVPA coating and the molecular behaviors at the PVPA interface affected by cations through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) depth profiling, quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D), and molecular dynamics simulation. The type and magnitude of the superlubricity transition caused by cations with different valence states are clearly different. The introduced monovalent cation that can stably adsorb on the PVPA surface, exhibits a strong attraction toward the surrounding water molecules, instantaneously strengthening the lubrication at the PVPA interface. These changes at the interface are reversible and would cause a sudden decrease in the coefficient of friction (COF). Adsorbing an introduced divalent cation on the PVPA molecular chain leads to the transformation of the PVPA coating from a stable network structure to an unstable bridging structure. The sudden increase in the COF, caused by the altered internal structure of the coating, is irreversible. This study provides theoretical support for the adaptive control of water-based superlubricity and intelligent lubrication. (c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Regulation Mechanism of Trivalent Cations on Friction Coefficient of a Poly(Vinylphosphonic Acid) (PVPA) Superlubricity System SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The application range of superlubricity systems can be extended effectively by realizing an adjustable friction coefficient. In this study, a stable poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) superlubricity system was developed using sodium chloride (NaCl) solution as the lubricant. A sudden increase in the friction coefficient occurred when a trivalent salt solution was introduced to the base lubricant during the friction process. The changes in surface microstructure and interfacial molecular behavior induced by trivalent cations were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and molecular dynamics simulation. The regulation mechanism of trivalent cations with respect to the friction coefficient of the PVPA superlubricity system was explored. Although La3+ and Fe3+ in solutions exist in two forms (La3+ and Fe(OH)(3)), both can destroy the stable coating structure through a bridging effect, resulting in a sudden increase in the friction coefficient. The ability of various cations to attract the surrounding water molecules is an important reason for the varying degree of change of the friction coefficient. In addition, the degree of sudden increase in the friction coefficient is dependent on the concentration of trivalent cations. There is an extreme concentration at which the maximum sudden increase degree in friction coefficient can be obtained. This study provides insights into the realization of oil-based superlubricity through interface regulation.

Deformation of the ink roller of an offset press based on a simplified model of ink-rubber viscoelasticity SCIE

Abstract :

Ink transfer is achieved by the squeezing and rotation of two rollers, one of which is a roller coated with a viscoelastic rubber layer. In this study, the force caused by ink hydrodynamic pressure on the rubber roller during the rotation is considered, the viscoelasticity of ink and rubber is equivalently substituted by spring-damping unit, and a rolling squeezing theoretical model of two rollers is established to study the node deformation of the rubber roller. The validity of the theoretical model is verified by experiments. Results show that the deformation of the rubber roller is greatly affected by the roller rotational speed, rubber layer thickness, and nip width. The rotational speed and nip width have a significant influence on the stiffness-damping of the ink layer and the ink force, and the rubber layer thickness has a remarkable effect on the squeezing deformation between the rollers.

Abstract :

For the flat plastic parts with the size range of 200 to 1300 mm, the structural parameters decision model of injection mold gating system is established in this paper. Firstly, the relationship between the warpage and the structural parameters of gating system is fitted by Kriging model, and the minimum warpage is optimized by genetic algorithm (GA) to obtain the best structural parameters. Secondly, the best structural parameters of gating system corresponding to 16 groups of plastic parts are taken as samples, and the relationship between the structural parameters of gating system and the size parameters of plastic parts is established by Kriging model. In addition, K-means is used to reduce the number of the structural parameters of gating system from 5 to 2, in order to improve the accuracy of decision model. Finally, the size parameters of plastic parts are input to the decision model to obtain the structural parameters of gating system. Through the verification of mold flow analysis experiment, the structural parameters of gating system obtained by this method meet the design requirements and can effectively shorten the structural design cycle of injection mold.

Abstract :

Modern manufacturing enterprises are shifting toward multi-variety and small-batch production. By optimizing scheduling, both transit and waiting times within the production process can be shortened. This study integrates the advantages of a digital twin and supernetwork to develop an intelligent scheduling method for workshops to rapidly and efficiently generate process plans. By establishing the supernetwork model of a feature-process-machine tool in the digital twin workshop, the centralized and classified management of multiple data types can be realized. A feature similarity matrix is used to cluster similar attribute data in the feature layer subnet-work to realize rapid correspondence of multi-source association information among feature-process-machine tools. Through similarity calculations of decomposed features and the mapping relationships of the supernet-work, production scheduling schemes can be rapidly and efficiently formulated. A virtual workshop is also used to simulate and optimize the scheduling scheme to realize intelligent workshop scheduling. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed intelligent scheduling strategy is verified by using a case study of an aeroengine gear production workshop.

Abstract :

In order to improve the printing quality, this study focused on the thermo-fluid-solid coupling process of ink roller-ink. One of the highlights of this study is to consider the influence of temperature on the rubber hyperelastic parameters, viscoelastic parameters, and ink viscosity. The other highlight is to improve the elastohydrodynamic lubrication theory and Hertz contact theory through the rubber elastic modulus, which is determined by the relaxation curve considering the temperature and working conditions. Furthermore, based on the improved theory, the thermo-fluid-solid coupling model of ink roller-ink was established. Finally, the effect of temperature on the coupling process was analyzed. The results show that under the working conditions, with increasing temperature from 20 degrees C to 40 degrees C, the contact half-width increases from 4.2335 mm to 4.4701 mm, and the minimum ink film thickness decreases from 0.5097 mm to 0.1410 mm, and the maximum ink pressure decreases from 0.6802 MPa to 0.6618 MPa.

Abstract :

The energy consumption loss is high particularly in manufacturing processes involving heating furnaces. Moreover, the mandatory constraints in continuous heating stage bring difficult challenges to production scheduling. To improve the production efficiency and reduce the energy consumption in a hybrid flow shop with continuous and discrete processing stages, this study developed an adaptive selection multi-objective optimization algorithm with preference (ASMOAP). The mandatory constraints of continuous processing stage are transformed into one of the optimization objectives, which is defined as maximum excess value of adjustment time in this paper. A multi-objective optimization scheduling model with the makespan, energy consumption, and maximum excess of adjustment time is established. The optimization preference is designed in the proposed multi-objective optimization algorithm. The maximum excess of adjustment time is set as the multi-objective optimization preference. Three adaptive selection strategies are designed for the algorithm based on the proportions of outstanding and preference individuals to eliminate constraint conflicts. Presented results prove that the proposed algorithm could effectively solve hybrid flow shop scheduling problem considering discrete and continuous processing stages with limited time. It can be applied to obtain a better feasible solution while improving the efficiency and reducing the energy consumed in practical production processes.

Abstract :

This paper mainly studied the contact characteristics of steel-rubber rollers. First, according to the dynamic mechanical experimental data of rubber, the hyperelastic-viscoelastic composite constitutive model was constructed to accurately describe the properties of rubber. Then, for the contact problem of steel-rubber rollers, the elastic modulus of rubber presents an instantaneous change due to the influence of rubber's viscoelasticity, so the Hertz contact theory was modified through the instantaneous elastic modulus. Next, a dimensionless parameter V e was constructed to judge the viscoelastic influence degree of rubber. Finally, based on modified contact theory and the dimensionless parameter V e , the influence of compressive force and rolling speed on the contact characteristics of steel-rubber rollers was analyzed. The research in this paper is helpful to the analysis of dynamic contact problem of rollers structure and the development of contact theory.
