Abstract :
为缓解驾驶人在草原公路行驶产生的驾驶疲劳,设计一种基于个体信息需求的防疲劳预警策略,采用问卷调查将驾驶人划分成视觉型、听觉型和触觉型3 类,综合考虑不同类型驾驶人的个性化信息需求,设计路端预警、车端预警和车端路端协同预警3 种草原公路驾驶疲劳预警策略,选取21 名驾驶人开展驾驶模拟实验,采集驾驶人KSS量表数据、对预警策略的主观评价数据和驾驶行为数据,利用描述性分析、统计分析和基于熵权的TOPSIS综合分析等方法,进行3 种驾驶疲劳预警策略的效果测试.结果表明:驾驶人对3 种预警策略的接受程度均较高;3 种驾驶疲劳预警策略均可以不同程度地缓解驾驶疲劳状态,协同预警策略优于其他两种策略,且疲劳程度越深,缓解效果越显著.基于驾驶人差异化信息需求的车端路端协同防疲劳预警策略有助于提升草原公路驾驶疲劳预防效果.

Abstract :
Previous studies mainly used statistical methods to analyze the impact of traffic composition on saturation flow rate from the mesolevel, and there is insufficient research on how traffic composition affects driving behavior. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to establish a more accurate car-following model, establish the relationship between microbehavior and mesostatistical regularity, and explain the influence of vehicle composition on saturation headway. In this paper, an improved full velocity difference (FVD) model is proposed, which abstracts the driver characteristics of a heterogeneous flow into four scenarios: car-car, car-bus, bus-car, and bus-bus. The measured data are used to calibrate and verify the basic FVD and the improved FVD models. The performance of the improved model is significantly improved. The RMSE and RMSPE are reduced by 15.29% and 22.32%, respectively. Finally, through numerical simulation experiments, the variation of saturation headway with different proportions of buses is analyzed. The saturation headway increases with the increase of the proportion of heavy vehicles. Moreover, another important finding is that the saturation headway is not significantly influenced by the position of the buses but only by the proportion of the buses. The research results could provide theoretical support for the control and management of fleets composed of different vehicles at intersections.

Abstract :
Research has revealed various relationships between regional functions, land use, and mobility features. However, how or to what extent the planned mobility features of designed regional functions differ from observed mobility features has not been sufficiently investigated. Here, the concordance between regional functions and mobility features was evaluated with datasets of dockless bike-sharing (DBS) usage and land use near metro stations. The K-means cluster method was applied to land use for capturing regional functions and to DBS features for identifying DBS usage patterns. The Kappa statistic for testing the concordance was proposed to show the differences between regional functions and mobility features. The results show poor concordance between regional functions and observed DBS features under the transit-oriented development context; the Kappa value was 0.09 on average for both DBS attraction and production. The concordance was found to be vulnerable to moderation by regional functions, on which commercial and business centers showed fair (Kappa = 0.20) and moderate (Kappa = 0.40) concordance with DBS attraction and production, respectively. The findings revalidate known relationships between land-use and mobility features based on mobility performance, and can assist in policy interventions to achieve the coordinated development of regional land-use and transportation systems.

Abstract :
Variable message signs (VMS) are widely employed to offer drivers dynamic traffic information. However, it is still lacking practical guidance about the information volume displayed on a graphical VMS. Building on the result of the subjective questionnaire survey, a static cognitive experiment was conducted to analyze the influence of volume information (i.e., elements and displaying the number of roads) of graphical VMS on drivers' visual cognition characteristics and then determine the threshold number of roads displayed on VMS. Forty-five drivers participated in the static cognitive experiment. Five indicators, including visual cognition time, cognition accuracy, comprehension accuracy, general assessment, and information acceptance, were used to estimate the influences of graphical VMS. Study results by descriptive statistics and statistical hypothesis testing indicated that drivers also preferred auxiliary elements (i.e., distance or time information) besides basic design elements (i.e., driving direction, current position, and road name) displayed on graphical VMS. With the increase in information volume, driver visual cognition time increased while other companion indexes (i.e., visual cognition accuracy and comprehension accuracy) generally worsened. Combining the data of drivers' objective behavior and subjective scoring, the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method revealed that the number of roads shown on the graphical VMS should be no greater than five. The study results were verified by dynamic simulation experiments. This finding provides a supplement for the design standards and usage specifications for VMS.

Abstract :
The transit-oriented development (TOD) is an effective planning strategy for achieving the Sustainable Devel-opment Goals (SDGs) in transportation by incentivizing active transport. As an active transport with high flex-ibility and affordability, the use of dockless bike-sharing (DBS) services was affected by many identified factors. However, few studies have examined this effect from a temporally heterogeneous perspective. Here, this study aims to test if there are heterogeneous effects of station-level land-use on the use of DBS across time and to explore how and to what extent station-level land-use affects the use of DBS dynamically. Taking Beijing as a case study, this study developed the Global Linear Regression models and the Time-Varying Coefficients panel data models to estimate the heterogeneity. The results prove the existence of heterogeneity on both working days and non-working days. The daily DBS trips were significantly correlated to the density, diversity, and most types of land-use; the effect of density maintained a high level and varies with hours, and the effect of diversity showed an insignificant effect on hourly DBS trips. Besides, public management and service facilities were critical in influencing DBS usage during the daily off-peak hours, while residences always significantly and positively correlated to the use of DBS before morning peak hours and after evening peak hours. Further, the study suggests an active transfer of DBS facilities in the businesses and commercial areas to surrounding areas during non-working days. The findings guide the improvement of the service efficiency of DBS systems, and integrate DBS management strategies into TOD practice toward SDGs.

Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to explore the influence of the cooperative vehicle-infrastructure system in foggy highway on the driver's visual information processing mode. Firstly, based on the driving simulation platform, a cooperative vehicle-infrastructure system in foggy highway (CVIS-HF) was designed to obtain the driver's visual behavior parameters. Next, the road ahead was defined as area of interest, and the driver's fixation, saccade and other explicit visual behavior indexes at the global level and area of interest were extracted and analyzed. Finally, three common factors, information extraction factor, perceptual density factor and information search, were obtained by using factor analysis method to characterize the driver's visual information processing mode under the effect of CVIS-HF. The results show that the application of CVIS-HF significantly affects the driver's scanning behavior and the allocation of visual resources for the road ahead. The original information distribution is changed by the intervention of cooperative vehicle-infrastructure system information, which improves the efficiency of information extraction and information search, but reduces the perceptual information density. The research results can provide theoretical reference and technical support for the design and safety application of human machine interface (HMI) in cooperative vehicle-infrastructure system. © 2021, Editorial Department, Journal of South China University of Technology. Abstract :
In view of the benefits and a promising prospect of the emerging connected vehicles (CV), more and more vehicles will be equipped with the in-vehicle human-machine interface (HMI). This study aims to assess the comprehensive impacts of HMIs on individual driving performance, traffic safety, and eco-driving behaviour based on a driving simulator. In order to explore how a driver responds to warnings when approaching a tunnel, this study divided the experimental road into five zones according to warning positions. A comparative analysis was conducted to examine the changes in driving comfort, speeding behaviour, the standard deviation of speed, time headway (THW), fuel consumption, and emissions. Results showed that the HMI could be beneficial to speed adjustment before entering a tunnel. Meanwhile, HMI may affect the THW of vehicles. Drivers were usually more cautious when the HMI was on. However, no significant effects of the HMI for driving comfort and eco-driving behaviour can be observed. It is expected that more efficient technology and different warning strategies can be developed to enhance eco-safe driving for different zones because they have different effects. The findings of this study are also helpful for active safety management and for evaluating the effectiveness of CV systems. © 2021 The Authors. Abstract :
The bicycle is a healthy and sustainable transport mode due to its emission-free characteristics. To increase bicycle use, it is fundamental to provide bicycle-friendly environments. To better monitor bicycle environments, this study proposed the concept of bicycling environment quality (BEQ), which was defined by perceived satisfaction and conflict level. Data collection was conducted at 19 road segments in five sites located in Beijing, China. Then, speed-related and acceleration-related bicycling behavior indicators (BBIs) were extracted from data collected using sensors on mobile phones, while bicycling environment indicators (BEIs), such as bicycle flow, were extracted from recorded data. Taking the BBIs and BEIs as input attributes, a two-level BEQ classification assessment model based on a random forest (RF) algorithm was constructed. The proposed RF-based classification assessment model was able to produce approximately 77.35% overall correct classification. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using GPS data in evaluating BEQ. In addition, a novel dockless bicycle-sharing system (DBS)-based framework for bicycle traffic monitoring is discussed, which is of great significance in the sustainable development of bicycles. This study provides a theoretical method for objective BEQ assessment. It can further be used by planners and road administrators to monitor and improve BEQ and by individual cyclists for optimal route choice.

为探讨雾天高速公路车路协同系统信息介入对驾驶人视觉信息加工模式的影响,首先,依托驾驶模拟平台设计了车路协同环境下的雾天高速公路驾驶模拟实验,获取驾驶人的视觉行为参数;其次,将前方道路定义为关键兴趣区域,分别提取驾驶人在全局水平及兴趣区域的注视、扫视等显性视觉特性指标,并分析其分布规律;最后,采用因子分析方法获取信息提取因子、感知密度因子及信息搜索因子共3个公因子,以表征雾天高速公路车路协同系统作用下驾驶人的视觉信息加工模式。结果表明,车路协同系统的应用会显著影响驾驶人的扫视行为及对前方道路的视觉资源分配,多元信息的介入改变了原有的信息分布,使驾驶员的信息提取效率提高,信息感知密度降低,信息搜索...
