Laser Irradiation Induced Electronic Structure Modulation of the Palladium-Based Nanosheets for Efficient Electrocatalysts SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 | SMALL
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Palladium nanosheets (Pd NSs) are widely used as electrocatalysts due to their high atomic utilization efficiency, and long-term stability. Here, the electronic structure modulation of the Pd NSs is realized by a femtosecond laser irradiation strategy. Experimental results indicate that laser irradiation induces the variation in the atomic structures and the macrostrain effects in the Pd NSs. The electronic structure of Pd NSs is modulated by laser irradiation through the balancing between Au-Pd charge transfer and the macros-strain effects. Finite element analysis (FEA) indicates that the lattice of the nanostructures undergoes fast heating and cooling during laser irradiation. The structural evolution mechanism is disclosed by a combined FEA and molecule dynamics (MD) simulation. These results coincide well with the experimental results. The L-AuPd NSs exhibit excellent mass activity and specific activity of 7.44 A mg-1 Pd and 18.70 mA cm-2 toward ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR), 4.3 and 4.4 times higher than the commercial Pd/C. The 2500-cycle accelerated durability (ADT) test confirms the outstanding catalytic stability of the L-AuPd NSs. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal the catalytic mechanism. This unique strategy provides a new pathway to design the ultrathin nanosheet-based materials with excellent performance. The electronic structure modulation of the Pd NSs is accomplished by femtosecond laser irradiation through the balancing between Au-Pd charge transfer and the macros-strain effects, and the samples exhibit excellent catalytic performance toward EOR. The structural evolution and the catalytic mechanisms are disclosed theoretically. This strategy provides a new pathway to the design of Pd NSs-based materials with excellent performance. image

Abstract :

A hybrid membrane is employed as a high-order plasmonic distributed feedback (DFB) cavity to reduce the lasing threshold of polymer lasers. The hybrid membrane consists of an anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane, a 25 nm thick silver layer and a free-standing polymer membrane. The AAO membrane is fabricated by a low-cost, single chemical etching method. Then, a layer of silver with a thickness of 25 nm is sputtered on the surface of the AAO. Subsequently, a polymer membrane is directly attached to the silver-plated AAO membrane, forming an AAO/silver/polymer hybrid membrane. Under optical pumping conditions, low-threshold, three-order DFB lasing is observed. The proposed laser device exhibited a dual-threshold characteristic because of the evolution from amplified spontaneous emission to DFB lasing. And a significant shift from omnidirectional emission to directional emission lasing can be observed while the pump energy density is beyond the second threshold. Furthermore, the plasmonic enhancement sourced from silver corrugation reveals important improvement effects to the DFB lasing of AAO/silver/polymer hybrid membrane for decreasing threshold, narrowing full width at half maximum (FWHM), and an increasing Q factor. This work may promote the design and production of low-cost and large-area high-order plasmonic DFB polymer lasers. Abstract :

Improving the activity and stability of electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) is key important for the large-scale application of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). Herein, we provide a novel scheme to firstly build Bi-decorated Pt aerogel through the structural reconstruction of Pt/Bi2O3 interface, which demonstrates an excellent mass activity of 7.99 A mg(-1)Pt in MOR (8-fold higher than that of commercial Pt/C). Experimental results show that the synergistic effect between Bi-0 species and Pt aerogel is the major cause of the improvement of the catalytic activity. In-suit Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy results indicated that the gen-eration and transformation of HCOO- intermediate are accelerated. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that the decorated Bi enhances the adsorption of OH species on the adjacent Pt site, which can facilitate the dehydrogenation of methanol and the removal of poisonous CO species. Thus, the electro-catalytic perfor-mance can be improved. This strategy can be extended to construct other types of interfaces, which may open new routes for the synthesis of highly efficient electrocatalysts.

Abstract :

Plasmon-enhanced photocatalysis has attracted considerable attention due to its low energy consumption and high energy throughput. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a highly sensitive and label-free nondestructive tool to investigate plasmon-driven photocatalytic reactions. Herein, we present a facile method to fabricate gap-controlled Ag nanoparticle (NP) arrays with uniform and high-density distribution of hot spots, which can be employed as both efficient plasmonic photocatalysts and stable SERS platforms. The plasmon-driven catalytic reaction of 4-nitrobenzenethiol (4NBT), which transforms it into p, p'-dimercaptoazobenzene (DMAB), is detected by using an in situ SERS technique at the excited wavelength of 785 nm. According to the temperature and laser power density dependent photocatalytic reaction rates observed on the Ag NP arrays, we quantitatively determined that the reductive coupling of 4NBT is more likely to occur as the gap decreases. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation results demonstrate that the plasmonic hot spots are significantly enhanced with a decrease in gap, which in turn reduces activation energy. The gap-controlled Ag NP arrays are efficient for both promotion and detection of plasmon-driven catalytic reactions, and may pave a pathway for implementing efficient plasmonic photocatalytic platforms. Multi-Wavelength Random Lasing Form Doped Polymer Film With Embedded Multi-Shaped Silver Nanoparticle SCIE

Abstract :

In this paper, spherical silver nanoparticles and multi-shaped silver nanoparticle were synthesized using the facile solvothermal method. The spherical silver nanoparticle has a narrow single LSPR peak around 400 nm, and a multi-shaped silver nanoparticles resonance region between 400 similar to 700 nm. A random laser was achieved in doped polymer film embedded multi-shaped silver nanoparticleson glass. It is experimentally shown that the spherical silver nanoparticles doped polymer film only has spontaneous emission peak, and dye doped polymer film with morphology of silver nanoparticles has a line width of 0. 5 nm coherent random laser emission. The threshold is 1. 9 mJ . cm(-2). Due to multi-shaped silver nanoparticles exhibiting multiple plasmon resonances, spectrally overlapping with the emission of R6G, improving interactions with nearby molecules to stimulate more emission, which is beneficial to the formation of high gain. Further, by changing the pump position, the random lasing emission can be tuned in the range of 20 nm, wavelength ranging from 590. 1 to 610. 4 nm. It is likely the composition and distribution of silver nanoparticles at different locations are distinct, which change the interaction of surface plasmonic and the scattering ability of photons, leading to different gain effects and distinct closed optical oscillating paths. In addition, considering that multi-shaped silver nanoparticles have a broad localized surface plasmonic resonance region, we investigated whether multishaped silver nanoparticles can be used to achieve red random laser. Under the same preparation method, we embedded it into a polymer film doped with DCJTB. The results show that the coherent read coherent random lasing with a wavelength of 675 nm can be generated effectively, and the threshold value is only 0. 98 mJ . cm(-2). The results of this work are a great reference value in the research of wideband tunable random laser and random multicolor laser.

Abstract :

Improving the activity and stability of electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) plays an essential role in the practical application of electrochemical water splitting under alkaline conditions. Here, trace Pd-doped Ru nanoparticles have been achieved using the pulsed laser ablation in liquid technology, which exhibit efficient HER catalytic performance. It is evidenced that the Pd doping amount is maintained at a trace level and increases nonlinearly with the concentration of the Pd precursor. Molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that the trace doping of Pd is due to the slow thermal decomposition rate of the Pd precursor. This work improves the mechanistic explanation of the metal doping induced by liquid-phase laser ablation, which may promote the fabrication and application of advanced laser-based nanostructures.

Abstract :

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an ultra-sensitive analytical tool that can effectively detect and identify molecules by their unique vibrational fingerprints. Development of SERS substrates with good stability, high sensitivity and reproducibility is still a big challenge in practical applications. Recently, 2D materials/metallic hybrid SERS substrates provide a new prospect to improve the SERS performance. Here, we obtain a monolayer MoS2 covered silver nanoparticle (AgNP) array as a high-performance SERS substrate. Annealing temperature-dependent SERS signals on the hybrid substrate have been explored. The optimum SERS performance was obtained at 290 t (the detection limit of 10(13) M for Rhodamine 6G and the corresponding SERS enhancement factor of 8.3 x 10(9)), which is attributed to the better contact between AgNPs and MoS2 and the uniform AgNPs with appropriate particle sizes. The prepared MoS2/AgNPs hybrid substrates also have been utilized to detect various molecules, which demonstrates a great potential for applications in food safety and biochemical environmental detection. Generation of single or multiple generalized vortex beams with irregular closed-loop intensity profiles SCIE

Abstract :

Vortex beams with spiral phase-front carry orbital angular momentum, which features a doughnut intensity profile due to the existence of phase singularity at the beam center. The generalized vortex beams (GVBs) with arbitrary closed-loop intensity profiles provide new op-portunities for optical tweezers, optical information encryption and optical communications. Here, we generate GVBs with a single-shot phase modulation by combining the phase profiles of the azimuthal phase adjustment and a Fourier transform lens. Furthermore, simultaneously generation of multiple GVBs with arbitrary shapes and topological charges are also proposed and theoretically validated. These results provide a flexible approach to modulate vortex beams.

Abstract :

Gold (Au) can be used as an ideal metal electrocatalyst for ethanol and glucose oxidation reactions due to its high performance-to-cost ratio. In this paper, the Au aerogel with high-index facets was synthesized by using the laser ablation in liquid technology, which can improve the electrocatalytic activity of Au. The as-prepared Au aerogel showed excellent mass activity and specific activity toward ethanol oxidation reaction, which are 4.6 times and 2.1 times higher than Au/C, respectively. The 3D porous nature and rich defect of the Au aerogel provide more active sites. In addition, the high-index facets with under-coordinated atoms enhance the adsorption of ethanol and glucose molecules, thus improving the intrinsic catalytic activity of Au aerogel. The effect of high-index facets has also been investigated by density functional theory calculations. Furthermore, the Au aerogels also show good electrocatalytic activity and stability toward glucose oxidation reaction. These results are conducive to promote the practical application of Au in electrocatalysis.

Abstract :

Ordered metal nanoparticle (NP) arrays have attracted tremendous attention for potential plasmonic applications due to their unique surface plasmon resonance. Herein, we fabricated highly ordered Ag NP arrays employing anodized aluminum (Al) templates and the vacuum thermal evaporation technique. The morphological evolution and corresponding optical property changes of the Ag NP arrays during annealing treatment has been investigated. It is found that there is a transition point approximately at annealing temperature of 290 degrees C, where the shape of Ag NPs is most spherical and the peak position of quadrupole mode has a largest wavelength about 500 nm. Then, the surface-enhanced Raman spectra of Rhodamine 6G on Ag NP arrays annealed at different temperatures has been demonstrated at an excitation wavelength of 532 nm. The maximum SERS enhancement is also observed at 290 degrees C. Our findings provide a way to further improve the performance of the plasmonic structures.
