Abstract :
We report what we believe to be a novel circular-clad large- size rectangular core crystalline waveguide Yb:YAG laser. The waveguide has a rectangular core of Yb:YAG with 400 x 400 mu m2 and a thin rod-shaped cladding of Er:YAG with a diameter of 1.2 mm and a length of 65 mm. The circular-clad structure has improved the pump absorption efficiency of the waveguide. A concave-convex cavity is designed to overcome the power limitation of thermal lens effect on the large-size rectangular core single-mode waveguide. A waveguide oscillator obtains a 1030 nm laser with an average power of 110 W and a beam quality factor of Mx2xMy2 =1.07 x 1.05, with optical-optical efficiency and slope efficiency of 54% and 67%, respectively. The laser performance is attributed to the double-clad structure and the good thermal management. The results confirm that the waveguide has high potential in power expansion and pulse laser amplification. (c) 2025 Optica Publishing Group. Abstract :
报道了一种基于光谱合束的Nd:YAG固体激光器双波长光源。系统由两个固体Nd:YAG脉冲激光器通过光谱合束组合而成,两个固体Nd:YAG脉冲激光器可独立工作,有利于输出脉冲的波长调谐、功率调节和相对延迟调整。通过光栅的色散特性以及输出镜的共同外腔反馈将各个激光器锁定在不同波长,从而实现合束,获得的激光源中心波长锁定在1 061.5 nm和1 064.6 nm,两谱线中心间距为3.1 nm,组合光束的输出能量为173 mJ,组合光束的光束质量因子M~2为2.8×2.2;两个Nd:YAG激光器独立工作的输出能量分别为94 mJ和92 mJ,在合束方向上的光束质量因子M~2分别为2.7和2.1,在非合束方向上的光束质量因子M~2分别为2.2和1.9;组合光束的输出能量为两个Nd:YAG激光器能量总和的93%,组合光束的光束质量因子与单个Nd:YAG激光束的光束质量因子M~2基本相同。该双波长激光源满足波长间隔小、输出功率大小相近、同光轴等要求,在太赫兹波产生、测速激光雷达以及医疗仪器等应用领域具有重要作用。

Abstract :
为了抑制高功率非线性镜锁模激光器的调Q不稳定性,提出了一种双晶体二次倍频非线性镜结构,通过加入第二块非线性晶体将二次谐波倍频为四次谐波来产生损耗,从而实现非线性反射率的提前饱和。该结构降低了非线性镜锁模器件的饱和峰值功率密度和调制深度,从而降低连续锁模阈值,得到稳定的连续锁模输出。通过理论分析这种非线性镜结构抑制调Q不稳定性的原理和表达,并使用大芯径晶体方波导作为增益介质,进一步搭建实验,验证了这一结构的可行性。最终实验获得了功率为26.5 W、重复频率为32.2 MHz、脉宽为0.95 ps的连续锁模脉冲输出。实验结果表明,这种高功率非线性镜锁模激光器结构简单、稳定可靠,并且该器件在高功率锁模激光器的发展中具有巨大潜力。

Abstract :
目前1.5μm激光二极管(Laser Diode,LD)泵浦的铒镱共掺玻璃/晶体被动调Q微型激光器广泛应用于激光测距、激光雷达等领域。随着激光器输出重频的增加,玻璃面临突出的热效应问题,晶体的热导率是玻璃的10倍以上,有望能够实现比玻璃基质更高重频的激光输出。报道了一种通过LD脉冲端面泵浦Er~(3+)/Yb~(3+):Lu_2Si_2O_7晶体的百kHz人眼安全激光器。通过实验优化增益介质掺杂浓度和长度、泵浦光斑尺寸和调Q晶体初始透过率等实验参数,同时适当缩短脉宽,优化泵浦占空比,提高了输出重频的稳定性。最终获得了重频为100 kHz、单脉冲能量0.7μJ、脉冲宽度240 ns、光束质量M~2=1.61的1 537 nm脉冲激光输出。实现了输出脉冲频率与泵浦的一致,保证了输出重频的稳定性,有效解决了输出重频具有随机性、不稳定、不可控等问题。

Abstract :
We report an effective method to reduce the impact of polarization state changes caused by thermal birefringence in intra-cavity frequency-doubled laser. The laser consists of a diode side pumped Nd:YAG module, an acousto-optic modulator Q-switch, and an LBO crystal used for SHG generation in 532 nm laser. The effect of thermal birefringence originated by the Nd:YAG rod with concave-shape end surfaces on SHG efficiency is compensated by the insertion of a lambda/8 plate into the cavity. At the repetition frequency of 9 kHz, the 532 nm laser achieves a maximum output power of 23.8 W, a pulse duration of 60 ns (FWHM), and a beam quality factor of Mx 2 x My 2 = 1.52 x 1.43. Compared with the lambda/4 plate and without plate, the maximum average power of the laser with the lambda/8 plate has increased by 22.7% and 66.4%, respectively, the beam quality factor has also been greatly improved correspondingly. This method provides a new solution for lasers to compensate thermally induced birefringence.

Abstract :
High slope efficiency 3 mu m laser output exceeding Stokes limit is demonstrated in Er:YAG crystals with lower doping concentration at room temperature. Based on cyclic cascaded cavity, several parameters affecting slope efficiency are optimized. Under the optimized configuration, slope efficiencies up to 36.5% and 37.2%, exceeding the Stokes efficiency of 33%, are achieved in 10at.% and 25at.% Er:YAG crystals, respectively. The realization of high slope efficiency paves the way for improving the average power of 3 mu m lasers.

Abstract :
We present a dual-wavelength laser source obtained by spectral beam combining of two solid-state Nd:YAG pulsed lasers. The central wavelengths were locked at 1061.5 and 1064.6 nm. The output energy was the sum of the energy of the individually locked Nd:YAG lasers. The beam quality M2 of the combined beam is 2.8 x 2.2, which is nearly the same as that of a single Nd:YAG laser beam. This work should be helpful to provide an effective dual-wavelength laser source for applications. (c) 2023 Optica Publishing Group

Abstract :
We demonstrate a wavelength switchable high-power passively mode-locked laser based on a large size rectangular core crystalline waveguide and a semiconductor saturable absorption mirror. The wavelength switching is realized by controlling the polarization direction, the 1030 nm or 1050 nm mode-locked pulses are obtained. For 1030 nm single-wavelength configuration, an average power of 16.8-W with 2-ps pulse duration is achieved. For 1050 nm single-wavelength configuration, we obtained 15-W of average output power in pulses with 2.7-ps duration. This work proves that, in the large size rectangular core crystalline waveguide, the gain of 1030 nm laser is different for different polarization states, and the wavelength switching is realized.

Abstract :
We demonstrate a high-power all-solid-state picosecond laser based on a passive mode-locking laser with a large-size rectangular core crystalline waveguide and a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror. An average power of 16.9 W is achieved with a 1.96 ps duration and a 31.74 MHz repetition frequency. This is the first demonstration of a mode-locked laser with a large-size rectangular core crystalline waveguide to our knowledge. (C) 2022 Optica Publishing Group
