Abstract :
This work is part of a project "full life cycle automation of computer animation generation". Among various animation planning tasks, it is crucial to plan the moving traces of avatars. Our previous animation generation software < Swan > includes a path planning module. However, that module generates only a 2D plan path. In this paper, we introduce a recent work of 3D path planning. Considering the possibility that inadequate 3D environments may request the avatars to undertake special posture while traversing the environment, we combine path planning with posture planning in automatic 3D traverse. Other contributions of this paper include: development a 2D mathematical model for 3D real environment and an algorithm transforming the latter to the former; a new principle of constraint based avatar sensitive path determination; design a calculus for calculating constraint oriented cost calculation based on spatial movement complexity of motion graph clips.

Abstract :
With computer technologies being widely used in animation field, the complex process of creating animations makes the animators more and more eager to a highly automatic animation technology. In consideration of the durable vitality and wide applications of the 2D animation in recent years, this paper proposes a technology for automatic generation of 2D animation. Inputting a story text based on user's demand, an animation which is coincident with the story will be ultimately generated through a series of automatic processes. The new technology has explored a new field, in which there would be many difficulties, such as 2D camera planning, path planning and layers planning. It would give a significant innovation to the production of 2D animation.

Abstract :
ICA3D is an implemented computer aided system that helps user design ancient Chinese architecture. With ICA3D, the user can describe the building he/she wants to see in a domain specific Chinese natural language, and the system automatically generates an animation demonstrating the construction process of this building from scratch. This whole text-to-scene conversion is supported by a set of knowledge bases implemented by the Semantic Web technologies. Currently, ICA3D covers more than 180 different types of Chinese traditional buildings. Compared with normal CAD systems, ICA3D features the automatic generation of animation, natural language style user interface, and scalable knowledge infrastructure.

Abstract :
Ancient Chinese architecture represents a unique contribution to the world's architectural heritage. However, there has been a serious lack of computer supported tools for representing, modeling and designing different forms of ancient Chinese buildings. We present ICA(3)D, an intelligent computer-aided system for designing ancient Chinese-style architecture. With ICA(3)D, the user has multiple choices of interaction from interactive menus to Chinese natural language description. The Semantic Web technologies are used to represent the domain knowledge including complex rules for composing complete timber structures from individual pieces of wood and rules for inferring construction sequences. Compared with other CAD technologies, the approaches presented in this paper feature a combination of user interaction and automation, a text-to-scene pipeline, and a scalable knowledge infrastructure supported by automated reasoning. Abstract :
After a short introduction to the concepts of knowware, knowware engineering and knowledge middleware, this paper proposes to study the software/knowware co-engineering. Different from the traditional software engineering process, it is a mixed process involving both software engineering and knowware engineering issues. The technical subtleties of such a mixed process are discussed and guidelines of building models for it are proposed. It involves three parallel lines of developing system components of different types-The. key issues of this process are how to guarantee the correctness and appropriateness of system composition and decomposition. The ladder principle, which is a modification of the waterfall model, and the tower principle, which is a modification of the fountain model, are proposed. We also studied the possibility of equipping the co-engineering process, with a formal semantics. ne core problem of establishing such a theory is to give a formal semantics to an open knowledge source. We have found a suitable tool for this purpose. That is the co-algebra. We also try to give a preliminary delineation of a co-algebraic semantics for a typical example of open knowledge source - the knowledge distributed on the World Wide Web.

Abstract :
Knowledge engineering stems from E. A. Figenbaum's proposal in 1977, but it will enter a new decade with the new challenges. This paper first summarizes three knowledge engineering experiments we have undertaken to show possibility of separating knowledge development from intelligent software development. We call it the ICAX mode of intelligent application software generation. The key of this mode is to generate knowledge base, which is the source of intelligence of ICAX software, independently and parallel to intelligent software development. That gives birth to a new and more general concept "knowware". Knowware is a commercialized knowledge module with documentation and intellectual property, which is computer operable, but free of any built-in control mechanism, meeting some industrial standards and embeddable in software/hardware. The process of development, application and management of knowware is called knowware engineering. Two different knowware life cycle models are discussed: the furnace model and the crystallization model. Knowledge middleware is a class of software functioning in all aspects of knowware life cycle models. Finally, this paper also presents some examples of building knowware in the domain of information system engineering.

Abstract :
We propose the concept of finite stop quantum automata (ftqa) based on Hilbert space and compare it with the finite state quantum automata (fsqa) proposed by Moore and Crutchfield (Theoretical Computer Science 237(1-2), 2000, 275-306). The languages accepted by fsqa form a proper subset of the languages accepted by ftqa. In addition, the fsqa form an infinite hierarchy of language inclusion with respect to the dimensionality of unitary matrices. We introduce complex-valued acceptance degrees and two types of finite stop quantum automata based on them: the invariant ftqa (icftq) and the variant ftqa (vcftq). The languages accepted by icftq form a proper subset of the languages accepted by vcftq. In addition, the icftq form an infinite hierarchy of language inclusion with respect to the dimensionality of unitary matrices. In this way, we establish two proper inclusion relations L (fsqa) subset of L (ftqa) and L (icftq) subset of L (vcftq), where the symbol L means languages, and two infinite language hierarchies L-n (fsqa) subset of Ln+1 (fsqa), L-n (icftq) subset of Ln+1 (icftq).

Abstract :
A typed category theory is proposed for the abstract description of knowledge and knowledge processing. It differs from the traditional category theory in two directions: all morphisms have types and the composition of morphisms is not necessary a morphism. Two aspects of application of typed category theory are discussed: cones and limits of knowledge complexity classes and knowledge completion with pseudo-functors.
