Abstract :
Beijing Plain is a very active part of Beijing city regarding the socio-economic and human activities of the region. Over the past four decades, Beijing's economic development and the continuous drought for nearly 10 years in the 2000s have negatively impacted the groundwater quantity and quality. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the present situation of groundwater chemistry in this region to develop a comprehensive database and orientation for future research on groundwater quality evaluation. Mathematical statistics, Piper's trilinear diagram, Gibbs plots, the ion ratio method and PHREEQC software 3.7.3 were used to analyze the groundwater hydrogeochemical characteristics and formation mechanisms of the quaternary aquifers of the Beijing Plain area. Hydrogeochemical results indicated that the groundwater is slightly alkaline, with pH values ranging from 6.76 to 8.65 and an average value of 7.92. The order of major cations in groundwater was Ca2+ > Na+ > Mg2+ > K+ with average values of 66.54 mg/L, 50.58 mg/L, 23.78 mg/L, and 1.81 mg/L, respectively, while the order of major anions was HCO3- > SO42- > Cl- with average values of 284.89 mg/L, 52.1 mg/L and 35.5 mg/L, respectively. The groundwater chemical types are Mg-Ca-Cl-HCO3, Na-Ca-HCO3, Mg-Ca-HCO3 and Mg-Na-HCO3. Research on the main influencing factors and PHREEQC hydrogeochemical inverse simulations results along the four pathways selected confirmed that rock weathering with sulfate, silicate and carbonate rock mineral dissolution and Na+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ ion reaction exchange influenced groundwater hydrogeochemical characteristics of the quaternary aquifers of the Beijing Plain area. Understanding the formation mechanisms of hydrogeochemistry in quaternary plains provides guidance for future studies and, through suggestions and case studies, facilitates decision-making by policy-makers on the sustainable management of groundwater resources.

Abstract :
The removal of biological phosphorus (P) removal along with chemical P removal additions is significantly important role in removing P at full-scale wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Few research groups have recently reported the use of P forms in these WWTPs. The current study mainly presents the varied forms of morphological phosphorus and the fate of chemical P removal agents in a full-scale WWTP that has adopted the A(2)O + MBR process. With time, the TP concentration in the liquid phase and the solid phase reaches the minimum (0.27 mg/L) and maximum values (1.75 mg/g), respectively. At this point, the TP concentration at the end of the aerobic and membrane pool becomes nearly constant. This indicates the complete removal of effluent TP from in the system. The heavy chemical P removal and addition dosing result in Al-P being the predominant P form in the solid phase. The fate of the chemical P removal and agents was determined by investigating the valences of the surface elements in freeze-dried MLSS at the membrane pool.

Abstract :
Chemical additions and energy costs in the wastewater industry are increasing trends in more stringent requirements for effluent quality and electricity rates. A novel ratio of chemical P removal addition to influent total phosphorus (TP) is proposed with an application to optimize operation for saving running costs. For this purpose, we monitored the performance of the process for a consecutive year (2018) and established a dynamic model related to the process. The main process variables included the concentration of influent and effluent quantity, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, TP, and dosing chemical additions. The ratio of the average daily effective mass of Fe (MFe-d) to the average daily mass of influent TP (TPInf-Tot-d) was found sharply rise to 3.3 g/g or higher in summer and autumn, whereas it smoothly dropped to about 2.3 g/g in winter and spring. This phenomenon can account for enhanced biological phos-phorus removal and upset. The emulating results showed that the proposed indicator can provide a relatively accurate representation of the system dynamics while significantly reducing the chemical additions and energy compared to a model that simulates the entire process without a complicated control system and algorithm.

一种磷酸化纳米铁制备方法,属于环境污染控制领域。制备方法为:首先配备三氯化铁和磷酸盐混合溶液。然后将硼氢化钠或硼氢化钾溶液逐滴加入至三氯化铁溶液中。随后静置、抽滤、水洗和冷冻干燥得到磷酸化纳米铁。该纳米铁制备方法简单、灵活可控,实用性较强;所述磷酸化纳米铁对水中重金属具有优异去除效果,且绿色无污染。

Abstract :
一种天然水体中天然纳米颗粒的提取方法,属于环境科学领域。本发明选取河流岸边5m以上深度的含水层中的水土混合物作为天然纳米颗粒提取的环境样品,保证单位体积样品中可以提取出含有天然纳米颗粒的原液和天然纳米颗粒原液的实际工程可应用性。提取过程通过超声分离的纯物理手段来完成对天然纳米颗粒的提取,不添加化学分散剂,最大程度上保留了天然纳米颗粒的结构特点和吸附能力。本发明实现了天然水体中天然纳米颗粒的有效提取。

Abstract :
The arbitrary distribution of groundwater monitoring sites and the redundancy of observation data restrict the ability of monitoring network to provide reliable and effective data information. The purpose of this study is aimed at finding a quantitative method to screen ideal monitoring locations and evaluate the efficiency of the monitoring network. In terms of site selection, we use hydrogeological information, monitoring density and monitoring location to select the suitable site to monitor groundwater quality, understand the temporal trends and identify the abnormal signals of pollution sources. To evaluate the efficiency of monitoring network we used the groundwater quality data for consecutive years to evaluate the groundwater monitoring network based on information entropy and principal component analysis (PCA). The results show that the optimized groundwater monitoring network is comprised of 10 monitoring wells. The efficiency evaluation results of information entropy and PCA are basically consistent. The maximum mutual information (T) and comprehensive index of monitoring site (Laiguangying) were 1.29 and 3.25 respectively, while the minimum T and comprehensive index of monitoring site (Jinzhan) were 1.05 and-0.36 respectively, and the data efficiency was low. This study provides a good example for optimizing a groundwater pollution monitoring network.

Abstract :
Sulfidated nanoscale zero-valent iron (S-NZVI) has strong reactivity and electron selectivity and is one of the promising remediation materials in the field of ground water remediation. Due to the easy aggregation of the material, its reactivity is reduced, limiting the application in environmental remediation. In this paper, the zeta potential (zeta) of S-NZVI at different pH and the electrophoretic mobility of S-NZVI coated with sodium alginate (SA-S-NZVI) at different ionic strengths were investigated. The thickness of the polyelectrolyte layer and the surface charge of sodium alginate were also calculated by combining the soft particle theory. The polyelectrolyte layer properties were correlated with the particle dispersion to study the particle properties. The results showed that the thickness of the coating layer increased with the concentration of sodium alginate, and the settling rate and aggregation rate decreased. Thus the stability of the particles increased. Combined with the XDLVO theory, although the polyelectrolyte layer increases the surface potential of S-NZVI and improves the electrostatic repulsion, the spatial effect plays a significant role in the total repulsion energy. The smaller the particle size of SA-S-NZVI, the weaker the magnetism. Therefore, the thicker the polyelectrolyte layer, the better the stability of the particles. Finally, the change of particle size with time was predicted by the Smoluchowski aggregation model. This study has a significant effect on the sedimentation process of water treatment, the problem of filter clogging of drinking water, and the problem of aquifer blockage in the infiltration process of surface water.

Abstract :
A novel and amplifying anaerobic electrochemical membrane bioreactor (AnEMBR, R2) was constructed and operated for a long time (204 days) with synthetic glucose solution having an average chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 315 mg L-1, at different applied voltages and room temperatures. More than twice sodium bicarbonate was added for maintaining a pH of around 6.7 in the supernatant of the reactor R2, close to that of a control reactor called anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR, R1), after 138 days. And the transmembrane pressure (TMP) for the R2 system was only 0.534 bar at the end of operation and 0.615 bar for the R1 system. Although the electrostatic repulsion force contributed to pushing away the pollutants (proteins, polysaccharose and inorganic salt deposits, and so on), more microorganisms adsorbed and accumulated on the membrane surface after the whole operation, which might result in a rapid increase in membrane filtration resistance in the long-term operation. There were much more exoelectrogenic bacteria, mainly Betaproteobacteria, Deltaproteobacteria and Grammaproteobacteria, on the cathode and the dominant methanogen Methanothrix content on the cathode was three times higher than the AnMBR. The study provides an important theoretical foundation for the application of AnEMBR technology in the treatment of low organic strength wastewater.

Abstract :
Groundwater is an important source of water in Beijing. Hydrochemical composition and water quality are the key factors to determine the availability of groundwater. Therefore, an improved integrated weight water quality index approach (IWQI) combining the entropy weight method and the stochastic simulation method is proposed. Through systematic investigation of groundwater chemical composition in different periods, using a hydrogeochemical diagram, multivariate statistics and spatial interpolation analysis, the spatial evolution characteristics and genetic mechanism of groundwater chemistry are discussed. The results show that the groundwater in the study area is weakly alkaline and low mineralized water. The south part of the study area showed higher concentrations of total dissolved solids, total hardness and NO3--N in the dry season and wet season, and the main hydrochemical types are HCO3--Ca and HCO3--Ca-Mg. The natural source mechanism of the groundwater chemical components in Chaoyang District includes rock weathering, dissolution and cation exchange, while the human-made sources are mainly residents and industrial activities. Improved IWQI evaluation results indicate that water quality decreases from southwest to northeast along groundwater flow path. The water quality index (WQI) method cannot reflect the trend of groundwater. Sensitivity analysis indicated that the improved IWQI method could describe the overall water quality reliably, accurately and stably.

Abstract :
In this study, we used groundwater quality data from 17 sampling sites in Chaoyang District of Beijing, which was measured to analysis hydrochemical characteristics and water quality evaluation combined with Shukarev classification, single factor evaluation method, comprehensive evaluation method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method in different seasons in 2018. The results showed that there was little difference in chemical composition and groundwater quality in different seasons. The groundwater ions were mainly HCO3-, Ca2+, and Mg2+ in the western region, and the salinity of water was low. Na+ and Cl- appeared in the southwestern and eastern region, and the concentration of Na+ in May was lower than that in September. Although the single index evaluation method was one-sided, it could determine the main pollutants. Although the comprehensive evaluation method could reflect the water quality status, it greatly highlighted the pollution factors and overestimated the degree of water quality exceeding the standard to some extent. The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method considered the weight of participating factors, which made the evaluation results more objective and reasonable. The four parameters of TH, Fe3+, NH4+-N and As3+ exceeded the standard, but they generally met the drinking water quality standard. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
