Abstract:
Engineered Cementitious Composites(simplied as ECC) have excellent deformation properties and crack-resistance ability. Experimental study and theoretical analysis on bending performance of high-strength reinforced ECC beams are conducted and compared with reinforced concrete beams. The results show that HRECC beam bearing capacity formula according to the simplified tension and compression constitutive model can be used for the flexural design. Under the same reinforcement ratio, the bending bearing capacity of HRECC beams is much higher than that of RC beams, but with multi-crack propagation. With yielding of high strength rebar, crack width of ECC beams is less than 0.09 mm, which is far less than the specification limits on the beam cracks. The ductility of HRECC beams are improved much than RC beam. High-strength rebars can be used in reinforced ECC and fits well with ECC. The bearing capacity formula for HRECC beams is established and the experimental values of bending bearing capacity for HRECC beams agree well with the theoretical values.
