Abstract:
Calcium carbonate fouling behaviors of jet impingement on copper, nickel-coating copper and aluminium surface were investigated experimentally. The asymptotic fouling resistances varied with time were obtained under conditions of different hardness and surfaces. The results show that with the increasing of carbonate hardness, the fouling rates on the copper, nickel-coating copper and aluminium surface all increase but the induction period decreases. The asymptotic fouling resistance differences of copper-to-nickel-coating copper or copper-to-aluminium also increase at the same time. The longest induction period and the smallest asymptotic fouling resistance are found for aluminium surface among all three different surfaces under hardness of both 500 mg/L and 700 mg/L, however, the asymptotic fouling resistance for aluminium surface displays the biggest value under the hardness of 300 mg/L. © 2012 Chin.
