Abstract:
The cyclic tests are performed in order to compare the seismic behavior of two 1/6 scale composite core walls with different columns, one with concrete filled steel tube columns and the other with steel tube-reinforced concrete columns. Based on the experiment, load-carrying capacity, ductility, hysteretic property, stiffness and degradation, energy dissipation and damage characteristics of the two specimens are compared. It is shown that the seismic behavior of the core walls with steel tube-reinforced concrete columns is better than those with concrete filled steel tube columns. The mechanical model for calculating load-carrying capacity of the new RC composite core walls is proposed. And the calculating results agreed well with the results from the experiments.
