Abstract:
With the dynamic monitoring apparatus, the effects of cold water hardness, temperature, velocity and tube's geometric parameter on the fouling characteristic were studied in this paper. The results indicated that the geometric parameter of spirally corrugated tubes showed great effects on fouling resistance. The shortest pitch corresponded to the smallest fouling resistance. However, the fouling resistance didn't change in the same trend with the increasing of the pitch. With the increasing of temperature the fouling resistance and the fouling rate increased, but the induction period disappeared gradually. The fouling resistance varied non-monotonously as the fluid velocity increased. Comparison of fouling resistances between the spirally corrugated tube and the smooth tube demonstrated that the spirally corrugated tubes displayed some anti-fouling characteristics.
