Abstract:

The paper analyzed the characteristics of speed and headway of vehicles at unsignalized T-intersections with 4 lanes on major road and 2 lanes on minor road. Filed data was collected at 8 intersections. It was found the difference of average speed of vehicle between traveling on outside lane and traveling on inside lane was not clear. The 85 percent of speed of vehicles at major approach waved near 65.0 km/h. It was also interested to find the variance and disperse of vehicle speed did not change with the distance from approach to the centre at intersection. In addition, the headway distribution model of left-turn vehicle was built for unsignalized T-intersections. The conclusion was useful for researcher to analyze unsignalized T-intersections.
