Abstract:
The badminton stadium for 2008 Olympic Games is the biggest suspend-dome built in the world. This paper summarizes the construction background, the concept and measures to reflecting the Green Olympics, Hi-Tech Olympics, People's Olympics, and introduces the procedure of selecting the suspend-dome. The optimum design and stability analysis of the structure, analog simulation of the stretch-draw procedure, static and dynamic experiment on the model, health monitor of the structure are also discussed. The results of this design and research project are applied to the design and construction of the badminton gymnasium for 2008 Olympic Games and significant to the future design and construction of the similar structures.
