Abstract:
The ultrafine WC-10Co cemented carbides were prepared by high-energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) using submicron WC/micron Co as the raw powder. The SPS process, microstructure and properties of the sintered samples were investigated. The sample sintered at 1200°C has better mechanical properties than that sintered at 1150°C, such as relative density of 98.6%, hardness of 94.0 HRA, transverse rupture strength (TRS) of 1819 MPa. The composite was pretreated before sintered, and the sample has better mechanical properties than the samples sintered with no pretreated composite, for example, relative density of 99.1%, TRS of 1937 MPa, sintered at 1150°C.
