Abstract:

This article proposes a dial digital character location algorithm based on canny edge detection and the dial multiple features under complicated background. The algorithm includes three principal steps: Firstly, using Canny edge detection operator, combined with the characteristic of the dial plate, the geometry algorithm for segmentation of the image of dial quickly, then using the Hough transform for arbitrary angle of tilt correction, finally the dial digital character positioning is realized by using projection method. The experimental results show that the method can accurately locate various dial characters under complex background, provide the basis for subsequent reading of automatic identification, the effect is stable and effective.
