Abstract:
This article aims to test the Energy Kuznets Curve (EyKC) hypothesis of the economic growth against energy consumption in Beijing industries from 1980 to 2009 using the ordinary least-squares (OLS) regression. It shows a significant decrease in energy consumption accompanied economic growth. And also we test for evidence of a logarithmic form of relationship of that. With the Akaike information criterion (AIC) indicator, the latter one shows more effective. Finally we provide a suggestion on energy consumption decreasing in the future.
