Abstract:
Unbalanced economic development and high total energy consumption have always been important problems plaguing Beijing’s economic development, and whether the unbalanced economic development will further boost total energy consumption is an issue that needs urgent attention. According to the data of 16 districts in Beijing from 2007 to 2020, the Theil index, which reflects the economic growth differences of various districts in Beijing, is calculated, and a fixed-effect model of total energy consumption and Theil index is constructed on this basis to estimate the impact of economic growth differences on energy consumption influence. The study found that: the overall economic differences in Beijing are increasing year by year, and the regional differences in the four functional zones are shown as: New urban development zones > Urban function development area > Ecological conservation development area> Capital functional core area, the contribution of inter-regional differences to the total difference is higher than the intra-re-gional difference. The total economic growth and economic growth differences have significant positive effects on energy consumption. The reduction of regional economic differences has a strong energy-saving effect. According to the conclusion of the study, put forward countermea-sures and suggestions to narrow the economic differences within and between regions to reduce energy consumption. © 2022, Scibulcom Ltd..
