Abstract:
To consider the interaction of actual buckling and post-buckling behaviour of individual members with that of the space truss structures, a general method to create the space truss model with member equivalent imperfections considered using ABAQUS was presented. Each member was meshed by several beam elements in this method, and the appropriate element number of B31 meshing each member was determined to be 4 by analysis. The numerical example shows that it is a valid and appropriate means to model the space truss, and it can be easily extended to other commercial softwares such as ANSYS, etc.
