Abstract:

The main technical characteristics and its development of spark plasma sintering (SPS) have been reviewed. The advances is focused on the preparation, microstructure and properties of SPS-prepared nano-size rare earth metal particles and nanocrystalline bulk, nanocrystalline rare earth-cobalt compounds, nanocrystalline rare-earth permanent materials, nanocrystalline rare earth hexaboride and thermoelectric materials in our group. Finally the suggestions of SPS R&D in China have been proposed.
