Abstract:
Welding residual stresses usually have some negative effects on mechanical properties of the welded structure. A multi electron beam heating method was proposed to modify the residual stress of the weld. A finite element model was established to analyze the welding transient temperature and residual stress evolution in the multi electron beam joint of titanium alloy. The computed results were validated by the measurement using blind hole drilling method. The residual stress evolutions during the multi electron beam welding and heating were analyzed to explain the residual stress modification. The effects of multi beam shape and heating group offset on residual stress distribution were discussed based on the established numerical model.
