Abstract:

Mg-6Gd-1Er-0.5Zr(GE61K) alloy with low rare earth content was designed. The alloy sheet was prepared by rapid rolling. The yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of the alloy sheet reach up to 201 MPa, 248 MPa and 17.4%, respectively. After annealing tretament, the strength of the sheet is decreased slightly, however the elongation can be increased to 20.7%. Solution strengthening and texture strengthening are the main factors affecting the mechanical properties of the alloy sheet. © 2022, Journal Office of Special Casting and Nonferrous Alloys.
