Abstract:

In view of the collapse accident of Ruyi Tunnel surrounding rock during tunnel construction crossing soil-stone composite strata in Huangling-Hancheng-Houma Railway, the influencing factors and collapse mechanism of the collapse were analyzed. Such treatment measures as 'pipe roof + small duct grouting' for strengthening the surrounding rock and enlarging the construction parameters for primary support and secondary lining were proposed. The effect of treatment measures was evaluated through field monitoring and three-dimensional numerical simulation. Results showed that the main factors causing the collapse were complex strata, weak surrounding rock and groundwater. Due to the influence of soil-stone composite strata and groundwater, a larger additional load was produced on tunnel arch, which led to the heave and damage of rock mass at the arch crown, and further led to the massive instability failure at the arch of tunnel face. After the treatment for the tunnel in the collapse section, the measured settlement and horizontal convergence displacement at arch crown were 26 and 30 mm respectively. The pressure between the primary support and surrounding rock of the arch crown was 128 kPa. The settlement of arch crown obtained from numerical simulation dropped from 662 to 47 mm. The plastic zone around the tunnel was reduced to 63% of the original design. It shows that the treatment measures can effectively control the pressure and deformation of surrounding rock and thus the construction risk is lowered. For tunnel construction, attention should be paid to the advance reinforcement for tunnel face. © 2018, Editorial Department of China Railway Science. All right reserved.
