Abstract:
Red mud was used as the raw materials to prepare low-cost red mud-based catalysts through acid digestion-alkali precipitation coupled calcination treatment method in this study. XRF, BET, H2-TPR, TG-DTG and FT-IR were used to analysed the characteristics of the catalysts. The specific surface area of the modified red mud was 26 times higher than that of the raw red mud. In addition, the catalytic activity of the catalysts was also greatly improved. H2-TPR results showed that the reduction peak temperature of the modified catalysts moved towards the low temperature, and the reduction peak area increased, which indicated the redox ability enhancement of the modified catalysts. The toluene conversion rate of the raw red mud was only 11.6% at 300℃, whereas the toluene conversion rate of the modified red mud was 100%. The toluene catalytic activity decreased with increasing of the toluene concentration being of 1000 ~ 4000mg/m3. The space velocity had a significant impact on the toluene catalytic activity of the catalysts. There was no deactivation or deterioration occurred during the stability test, which indicated that the prepared red mud-based catalysts exhibited excellent stability performance. © 2021, Editorial Board of China Environmental Science.
