Abstract:

This paper carries out a numerical study on the seismic performance of innovative concrete filled steel tube (CFST) column base with high strength reinforcing bars. Based on the experiments of the proposed CFST column base, the FEM analysis model is developed using the ABAQUS software. In the analysis model, the corresponding material constitutive relationships, the meshing method, the interaction, and the boundary condition are determined for the innovative CFST column bases. Analysis results are in good agreement with the test results. The tensile and compressive region of the steel tube and the base plate are all yielded. The base plate is in a bending status and an interspace appears from the foundation which matches the test phenomenon well. In the design practice, the parameter matching needs to be considered the proposed column base. © 2021 IEEE.
