Abstract:

In the seismic performance analysis of the isolated tank, the shear force and the displacement of the isolator are two important indexes. Housner model is a commonly used simplified liquid model in the seismic design of tank. It has good accuracy in calculating the shear force and has been widely verified. In this paper, the real-time hybrid simulation method is used to study the tank isolated by friction pendulum bearing (FPB) with different friction coefficients under four seismic excitations. And the Housner model is used to replace the test tank to simulate each case. The results show that the Housner model is accurate in the calculation of shear force, and the average error is only 11% compared with the experimental results. However, in the calculation of the sliding displacement of FPB, there is a big gap with the experimental results. The average error is 22%, and the maximum error is more than 30%. © 2020, Editorial Board of World Earthquake Engineering. All right reserved.
