Abstract:
In order to compare performance of different fire detection systems commonly used in urban utility tunnel, several types of fire detectors were selected to test by setting up a fire experimental bench to record the response time of detectors. In the experiment, ceramic tube electric heating and alcohol ignition were used to ignite the cable respectively so that fire detectors in the cable tunnel could give an alarm. Results show that contact-type linear temperature sensor has the fastest alarm time for ceramic tube electric heating method. The cable line-type rate-of-rise and fixed temperature detector are more stable, and the alarm times are shorter. The image fire detector did not give an alarm. As for alcohol ignition method, fire is relatively small in the early stage, the temperature in the utility tunnel is relatively low, and the fire detection response time would be long. In addition, wind velocity in the utility tunnel has a great influence on the detector alarm time. © 2024 The Authors.
