Abstract:
To make sure that commercial development does not affect the operation of subway station, evaluation should be done before the development is carried out. Thus, it is necessary to analyze the relaxed pedestrian behaviors in shopping malls to assist the decision making. This paper reports an investigation about relaxed pedestrian behaviors of shopping malls which was carried out in Beijing. Data collection was focused on three typical pedestrian behaviors: walking, shopping in store and payment. Data such as walking speed, shopping time in store and service time of checkout counters was collected and analyzed. Influencing factors, such as gender, age, group size and luggage were also analyzed. Correlation analysis was used to reflect the relationships between factors and relaxed pedestrian behaviors. The research with other research results were also compared. The result of this research will not only help extending the research work on pedestrian characteristics about relaxed pedestrian, but also help developing the pedestrian facilities planning and design for shopping mall in other cities in China or even in other Asia countries. © right.
