Abstract:

In virtual reality, rendering terminals are required to have strong computing power for crowd rendering. It has been a bottleneck for the development of crowd rendering applications. In order to improve rendering efficiency for crowd rendering, we propose a new GPU-based crowd rendering method. Using static LOD to integrate geometry rendering method and impostor rendering method seamlessly, a hybrid rendering method for real-time crowd rendering is presented. The results validate that the presented method makes tradeoff between CPU and GPU, and can get better frame rate than traditional method.
