Abstract:

Fe-based amorphous alloy coatings were prepared on mild carbon steel substrate by arc spraying. Microstructure and properties of the coatings were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM and micro-hardness test. Wear resistance of the coatings were eximined by wet sand/rubber wheel abrasive wear tester. The experiment results show that the coating has laminated microstructure with a little micro-pores and oxides. The coating has high hardness and excellent wear resistance, and its relatively wear resistance is 15.2 times of mild carbon steel in the same experimental condition.
