Abstract:
A kind of FPS bearings is designed for isolating superstructure and foundation in a six-story single span steel-frame model subjected to shake table testing. Using both shake table tests and finite element analysis, different site responses were analyzed and compared. The experimental and finite element analysis results indicate that, the FPS is an effective isolation device that can lengthen the natural period and reduce the earthquake effect on upper structure.
