Abstract:

A zoning location method is presented for damage of latticed shell structures. Using this method one zones a latticed shell structure, disposes sensors according to zones, and makes use of structural higher order mode responses which can be obtained using a single-point exciting to a structure. Modal parameters are identified by random decrement technique and ITD method. The damage zones are located by use of the differences between the higher order modal shapes before and after the structure is damaged. In the end, through a vibration test to a single-layer ellipsoidal latticed shell model, the feasibility of the method presented here is validated.
