Abstract:
Based on theories of optimization for the route of heavy cargo transportation on roads and operating characteristics of heavy cargo transportation, an objective function which incorporates risk cost is developed for heavy cargo transportation. In order to analyze the optimal route more clearly and conveniently, connectivity and network parameters such as blocking and restraint were defined in the Transcad software. Based on road sections, results minimizing total cost, including risk cost, are presented. An example verifies the feasibility of the model. © 2010 ASCE.
