Abstract:

Recycled concrete brick is made of discarded concrete. As a basic study for the aseismic behavior of recycled concrete brick, the compression properties of 18 recycled concrete brick masonry specimens in different levels of mortar strength were tested. The load-bearing capacity, deformation and the failure process of each specimen were tested and analyzed. Then, the compression strength, elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio of recycled concrete brick were calculated. The research shows that, compared with common bricks, the recycled concrete brick has a lower load-bearing capacity and a faster decline in pressive strength, and the elastic modulus and PoissonS ratio are nearly the same. With the increased strength of masonry mortar, the pressive strength and deformability increase and the elastic modulus augments. The recycled concrete brick can be used in the seismic design of multi-layer masonry buildings.
